Najeeb Jamali, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan, is a well-reputed and prominent lawyer with a diverse practice across all forums in Pakistan. He heads the firm’s litigation and corporate advisory practice

He begs no introduction – a gold-medalist in LLB from the Hamdard School of Law in Karachi and a Masters with merit from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK, demonstrating his strong academic background, research and advocacy skills.

Upon completion of his education, Najeeb apprenticed to Mr. Makhdoom Ali Khan, Senior ASC and former Attorney General of Pakistan, as an Associate in one of the most prestigious law firms of Pakistan, Fazleghani Advocates & Co. for a period of 7 years.

Thereafter, Najeeb started his independent practice by reviving his grandfather’s named legacy – S. A. Jamali & Co., of which he is currently a senior Partner.

Najeeb now has over two decades of experience acting in contentious and non-contentious litigation, corporate and commercial matters. The firm also prides in his dispute resolution skills.

LITIGATION EXPERIENCE

Najeeb brings the firm a wealth of litigation experience and enjoys a wide clientele. He has successfully represented numerous television channels, newspapers, textile companies, banks and lenders of power plants, international shipping companies, petroleum companies, importers, regulatory bodies, tax authorities, associations, employers as well as employees.

As a result of years of hard-work, dedication and perseverance in the Courts, he has inscribed his name as a distinguished and notable lawyer of Pakistan. He is proficient in constitutional and civil law with particular expertise in property, inheritance, family, labour, employment, taxation and custom laws.

Haseeb is an advocate of the High Court of Sindh since 2006 and advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan since 2016.

Najeeb has also acted for airlines, banks and employers before the arbitration tribunals.

He is presently member of the Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan, Sindh High Court Bar Association, Sindh Bar Council and Karachi Bar Association.

CORPORATE EXPERIENCE

Najeeb routinely advises local and international clients on complex commercial and taxation issues. He has rendered specialist advice and legal opinions in respect of regulatory compliance, implications of amendments in laws, withholding tax on non-executive directors and local authorities, taxation of shipping businesses, validity of insurance claims by airlines, exemption of tax for management companies, regulatory duty, carriage fee, windfall levy, and termination/dismissal of employees.

Najeeb has also drafted and vetted contracts particularly for the power and employment sectors, which included contracts in respect of power purchase, construction of a bank tower, procurement of service, management contract of a hotel, operation and maintenance of a bank building, employment of labour and officers, import and installation of machinery, joint venture agreements, tenancy and lease, and asset purchase contracts.

LECTURING EXPERIENCE

Najeeb is an articulate and eloquent speaker. Not surprisingly, his other inclinations include teaching.

He has been a former lecturer (visiting facility) at the Hamdard School of Law, Hamdard University, Karachi. Najeeb also had the privilege of conducting a Seminar on medical negligence for medical students at the Aga Khan University Hospital.
